This week I should have been updating report cards and inputing grades on an online grading system (which, by the way doesn’t ever actually want to work long enough for you to input one student’s grades before it kicks you off and flashes a pop up error at you to contact your network administrator). Anways, like I said SHOULD HAVE been. So naturally, instead I was sitting in my living room staring at the passage to the foyer thinking “That looks decidedly un-Christmasy. What can I decorate that with?”  Procrastination truly is the mother of invention. So I walked away from my grade book, grabbed some sliver garland and strung it across the arch way…nope. That just wasn’t going to do it. I was going to need to break out the hot glue gun. Oh…how I love the smell of hot glue at Christmas time!

To make this super easy icicle decoration I used 2 packages each of regular sized and small assorted plastic christmas ball ornaments (I chose silver and white because it looked extra icicle like) and one roll (25 feet) of silver bead garland.  I popped the little plastic ornament hanger piece off the top of each ornament and used a little bit of hot glue to attach these to the top of my beaded garland pieces so that I could hang them easily from the ceiling.

    Then I used a small pair of trimmers to trim the tops of the ornaments. Then glued together various size and color ornaments together in groups of two or three and attached them with different lengths of beaded garland.

I hung them from the door frame spacing them about 3 inches apart, with the longer pieces on the outside and the small pieces in the middle so that you can walk through with ease.

And then, that silver garland that wasn’t enough? I used it to cover the little nails I used to hang the icicles…tada! Now…it’s beginning to look a little more like Christmas, LA, la la, laaa….
